first seal; video/action for new bark.
[ This post could take place anywhere. There's no defining shot of a background that's instantly defining - just trees, and sky, and Rin. If it weren't for the music - New Bark theme, easily recognizable to anyone who knows their tunes - it would be hard to pin down where she was. Rin herself looks native for a given value of native, too. She's swapped out to the extra set of clothing in her pack - "lass" - and instead of a hitai-ate, there's a plain blue headband. There's also a smile, if a cautious one. These things seem pretty harmless so far, and there doesn't seem to be any benefit from not using it, so. ]
Hi! So, to preface this, let me say I did read the guides given to me at the start of this. [ That's brisk and matter-of-fact more than anything else. And Rin had. She'd done that first thing, because information was key. And she's decided against asking where she is, since...well, she's scanned plenty of those entries already, and apparently the answers are "Johto", "Pokemon", and "multiple worlds", which she's not sure what to do with. ] But what I'm most interested in wasn't really covered there. The warnings about berries were helpful, but...
[ Not really the most complete informational packet, and she'd definitely like more to rely on, if at all possible. It was her job to know this sort of thing, if she was going to be responsible for the pink thing following her around. "This sort of thing" being... ] Does anyone have any tips on what other poisonous substances we might encounter here? Or any pointers on keeping your Pokemon healthy? I do plan to learn what I can from the centers - but I'm a bit between places right now, so it's not really practical.
[ There's a little sigh. ] I am trained in first aid and medicine, and I presume a lot of it will work on them, but I'm not...entirely sure how the different physiologys might change how that works. So - I'm all ears. And thanks in advance.
...And if anyone has any suggestions as to places that might be good to visit, that'd be fine, too. [ Apparently "home" isn't an option, so...some sort of direction might be nice, rather than her current lack of it. ]

[Or when she first started, getting attacked by her pokémon but details.]
So, you're interested in being a pokémon nurse? I'm sure that they'd like having someone who wants to learn that stuff. As for places to go... well, a lot of people who stay in Johto and don't end up going to Kanto tend to stay in Goldenrod City a lot. It makes sense, it's the biggest city in Johto, after all.
... Anyway, keeping your pokémon healthy is the same as any animal. Make sure you know what they eat, don't let them eat anything bad for them, and if you have one that's really, really eager to fight don't let it over do things. No matter how much they protest that.
video
[ ...That might have been said a little wryly, but it's not directed at Hikari. Just the situation. ]
Ah...I think so. At least, I'm a medic at home, and if that's the nearest equivalent, and the way I can be most useful to my team....I absolutely want to look into it.
Looking into what they eat is definitely a top priority. My Audino seems to like berries - not the sort I was warned off of, but we picked up some strawberries? - and I think they're agreeing with her, but...
video
Yeah, I think that's the closest thing to a medic here. Though people can still get hurt, so your skills there should still be useful. But what do you mean by "team"?
[She pauses before smiling again at that last comment.]
Well, that's good then! I don't think you're going to have a problem with your starter as far as figuring out what to eat goes. They... well, they seem to be older than ones that are hatched out of eggs immediately.
... Not that that definitely means she'll be perfectly behaved, but I've dealt with a lot of baby pokémon before, and they can be quite the handful.
video
...I'm not too surprised. Babies can't be expected not to be a handful, really, can they?
video
And yeah, it's really not something that isn't obvious. Though it's even more of a handful when you have four of them at once.
video
If you handled more than four at once, I think you must be a pretty brave person. [ She might be joking, a little. ] I'm Rin, by the way.
video
[She giggles.]
It was more like bad luck, I had just got here when they decided to give out eggs randomly and I ended up with four of them that hatched at the same time.
Anyway, my name's Hikari. It's nice to meet you Rin.
video
[ Was, but...details. ]
It's nice to meet you, too, Hikari! Do they often decide to randomly give out eggs?
video
[Pause for a moment, before a nervous giggle.]
Those are two holidays, one in December and the other around March or April. I think eggs are something that has to do with Easter. Or Easter has something to do with eggs. I didn't pay a lot of attention to it.
video
[ She hadn't been familiar with those holidays, so she appreciates the explanation very much, Hikari! She likes the cut of your jib. ]
I can't say I've heard of Easter before now, so...Still, I'll keep an eye out. I wonder why that would be the case? Eggs on holidays?

Are there holidays native to your country?
video
video
Do the holidays in this world match up with other people's holidays often?
video

video
I'm not sure if I would've believed it either, but well, some recent history in the different versions of my world don't completely match up. So different versions is the only real explanation.
video
video
I've known that there's been different ones for so long that it's hard to remember that not everyone's in that situation.
